Game On

Today marks a very important day for me. It's one of the most exciting days of the year, rivaling even Thanksgiving. You may be wondering...

Is it your birthday? No, not quite yet (September 13 - just as a reminder).
Are you celebrating an anniversary? (Forever alone face) ...no.
Well what is it, Lindsey?!

Iowa vs. Iowa State. I have watched this game every single year of my life, aside from the great Chuck E. Cheese disaster of '02 which my family still won't let me forget. This is a day that brings an entire state together for binge drinking and football. A true Iowan pastime.

In conclusion, GO HAWKS!

Dear Diary: April 7, 1997

April 7, 1997
I'm like so totally imbarresd. I could have a heart attack. First my best friend took the guy I still have a crush but I also have a feeling that their relashiun ship will not last long. GOOD THING! And Andrew Rorbeck in my class thinks that I have big breasts! Whatever. I want to beat him up!

Bye!
Utterly Embaresed!

Author's note - clearly I did not take the time to make any effort to spell words correctly...or even finish sentences for that matter.

I feel like my relationship with my mom is not totaly complete. It's almost like it's falling apart a little.

Signed,
Confesed
Confused

I wish I could talk to her about how I feel. But I'm just to afraid.

Author's note - I learned a lot spelling 'relationship' during my week-long diary hiatus.

Weekend Getaway: Lanesboro Style (day 2)

Waiting...

Finally! It was so worth the wait (and the cold meal mom and I were greeted with back at the restaurant).

And finally, I present you with day two of my thirty hour getaway. Originally, mom and I planned on shopping in Lanesboro for a few hours, then grabbing lunch on our way back to Iowa. One of the store owners suggested we stop in Harmony, Minnesota at an antique mall. My ears immediately perked up and my heart skipped a beat when we walked into this place. I found so many gems, but unfortunately we were in a bit of a hurry to see the president drive by. While he was beyond fashionably late, I was pretty giddy when the bus came by and he waved right at ME (probably...I mean, I can only assume...who else would he have been waving at!?).

My birthday is next Tuesday. Do what you will with that information.

Have a lovely night!

Spud Boy Creeper

Admittedly, I did not bring the most exciting outfit options for my weekend getaway - I wanted to dress for active comfort versus style.

Unrelated...is that little boy painted in the window at least slightly unsettling or is it just me?

I'm about to go for a jog then it's off to visit some family for a Labor Day Weekend barbeque. Can't wait to spend a relaxing afternoon with my favorite people.

Sorry for the quick post, my creativity is lacking.

Have a lovely afternoon!

Weekend Getaway: Lanesboro Style (day 1)

Downtown Lanesboro

The B&B we stayed at - Inn at Sacred Clay Farm

 Cutie lunch diner downtown

Bluffs!

What the frog! It looks like he's struggling to get away, but I assure you he is not.

Mom and me - she's the best.

 BEWARE OF WHAT!

Don't eat yellow snow or mystery berries - lessons from my dad.

The magic stick we used on our hike to thwart off spider webs.

I like to make sure you guys keep your expectations of me low, so that's why this post of my weekend trip almost three weeks ago is just now appearing.

In theory, I am a bed and breakfast enthusiast. In actuality, I spend a lot of time researching them, but never going. Mom took me to the tiny, but active, town of Lanesboro, Minnesota (population under 900). It was the perfect trip for both of us!

Day one was spent mostly eating junk food in the car. Once we arrived at the B&B, we quickly got ready for a (presumably) easy hike. Here's what happened:

Mom: I really think I could just hike for a living.
Me: Yeah?
Mom: (loses footing and walks into a spider web. Yelps.)
Me: (follows suit and screams.)
Both: (laughs, almost pee pants, finds stick to double as machete and spider web terminator.)

After our raging success of a hike, we enjoyed a really yummy meal at Pedal Pushers Cafe - I enjoyed the best veggie burger with hand-cut fries. We walked off our dinner downtown, while creating a shopping strategy for the next day. Anyone else do that?

I'll likely be posting more photos within the next few days, but don't hold me to it. Remember, low expectations, people!

Have a lovely day!
