Outtakes: April/May 2011 Edition

Pardon my laziness during the month of April, but I am back with bloopers from the last month! Please enjoy a few of my (ahem) finer moments...

Original Post: Tea Party - So, I have fairly weak/wobbly ankles and have been known to be somewhat...clumsy. This photo was taken immediately after I almost biffed it in the grass. I'm going to give myself credit for looking so composed!

Original Post: Hoppy Easter - My loving grandma thought it would be hilarious for my dad to snap an action shot, so she started throwing pine cones at me. This is me laughing (obviously) and crossing my legs to prevent pee-pants. In addition to my not being able to walk in heels, I also have an extremely weak bladder and have been known to wet myself if I laugh too hard.

Original Post: Day Tripping: Omaha Style - While helping Tia change into her costumes for the commercial, I decided to try on a few pieces. The Batgirl cap really does suit me, don't you agree?

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to get back to what is sure to be my newest television obsession "My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding."

Have a lovely night!

The Treasures I Found

Please don't judge my dirty jeans - I just got off work at the bakery and had been crawling around in this trailer for a bit

Yesterday I made the hour long journey to Marshalltown, Iowa to assist my brilliant grandmother. If you're not familiar with this bustling metropolis of a city - I promise, there is nothing you are missing out on...

While helping my grandma clean/sort/pack for her upcoming move, I stumbled upon some wonderful treasures! I am especially thrilled with the big cozy cardigan (pictured above), which belonged to my grandpa and holds sentimental value. Methinks it will permanently become a staple in my closet.

1. Polaroid Automatic 103 Land camera (produced between 1965-1967)
2. Drawing done by my great-great grandmother
3. Chachki box
4. Argoflex Forty twin lens reflex camera (produced between 1950-1954)
5. Homemade pillow case

These finds will always hold a special place in my heart because of their origin. I can only imagine how many stories and memories surround everything. While I know my grandma must be struggling to say 'goodbye' to some of these pieces, I find comfort in the fact that I can take good care of them.

Have you guys ever found any special/unique family heirlooms?

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend!

June Cleaver

I can't lie, I did not wear this today. My job doesn't really allow for these outfits, so I changed into my favorite housewife dress afterward. The plan was to upload one of the photos on Everybody Everywear, but I missed the floral deadline. Luckily, next month's style challenge looks like it'll be lace - I'm already plotting!

Found out today that microwave popcorn does, in fact, have an expiration date. No worries - I cooked and ate it anyway and still feel fine hours later. To be safe, however, I searched online for a more concrete answer. The results were mixed, but I decided the responses leaning more toward allowing me to eat were closer to the truth.

Looking forward to relaxing outside with a book tomorrow!

Have a lovely day!

Hey Shorty

Photos by Jillian - thanks buddy!

Ever since I can remember, I've had a complex about wearing shorts. My calves have always felt disproportionate to my thighs and I dread the denim creep (when one's shorts start riding up one's inner leggys). It's super embarrassing to walk and constantly yank at your crotch. When the shorts with tights style became popular, I was hesitant...could I really  pull off a look like that? After much deliberation, I decided to take the plunge. I can now wear booty shorts with pride.

My next goal is to try shorts without tights. We'll see about that one.

Finally, mad props to my cousin, Jillian, who served as photographer for the day. I really love how the first photo turned out. Hello, perfectly wind-blown hair!

Have a lovely night, everyone!

Top Model Thanksgiving Dinner

Tia, Me, Jami, Stacey

We took it upon ourselves to fix a gourmet Thanksgiving dinner in celebration of the season finale of 'America's Next Top Model'. On the menu: turkey loaf, cheesy hash browns, green bean casserole, rolls, more vegetables, then apple AND cherry pie for dessert. Afterward it became apparent that we needed to take our own Top Model photos. Below is a sneak peek...

Look for more photos from TMTD (Top Model Thanksgiving Dinner) in the nearish future! Question - do any of you take silly model-y pics with your friends?

Have a lovely day!

Under Where?

Photos by Ian!

I'm struggling with a good topic to discuss today...

Oh! Here's a fun/embarrassing thing that happened this morning - I woke up late for work so hurried to get out of the house. Six hours later I went to the bathroom and noticed my underwear was backward. Not inside out, but backward. To make things even better, it was a thong. How did I not notice that over the course of SIX HOURS?! I must say, however, it wasn't all that uncomfortable.

Have a lovely weekend!

Day Tripping: Omaha Style

Tia, my best friend and light of my life asked if I would accompany her to Omaha for the day for some shopping and commercial shooting. Nothing pleases me more than buying junk food for a road trip, so I happily obliged. We polished off a bag of salt & vinegar chips in under an hour. There was plenty of singing and boy talk - we giggled nearly the entire time.

Since Iowa doesn't have Urban Outfitters, that was our first stop. It was a major bust, but we still enjoyed wandering the store. Following that, Tia and I found our way to Old Market. Traveler tip: the cobblestone streets are impossible to walk on in heels and, yes, I did roll my ankle in front of traffic and it wasn't pretty. My ego is still slightly bruised. After grabbing a yummy bite to eat, we drove to the pizza shop for the commercial shoot. See, Tia creates lovely costumes for comic conventions and is fairly well known among other attendees so some guys asked her to be in a commercial. Apparently it'll be airing on Cartoon Network. Awesome, right? Anyway, she looked fantastic in everything and my hand made its film debut. I'll be sure to post a link when it becomes available.

I have a few funny photos from our trip to share soon!

Have a lovely day!
